    Amazing afternoon tea

This was easily the best afternoon tea I have had in a long time. Excellent value and a great selection to choose from.

    Valentines Meal offer

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal which was an excellent offer. The food was delicious. I had the braised beef cheek which was "melt in the mouth". My wife is wheat intolerant, so she was slightly limited in what she could order, however the waiter was really helpful in checking what she could, and could not have, and she was more than happy with what she had. One negative point, though, is that the we were not asked for our coats etc., to be taken and we had to drape them over our chairs. Other than that we would be more than happy to return there.

Modern European restaurant in Edinburgh city centre

The Lantern Room @ Courtyard By Marriott Edinburgh is an informal restaurant and bar on Baxter’s Place by Edinburgh Playhouse. Opened at the end of 2016, it has a smart, contemporary decor and serves everything from lunch and afternoon tea to after work drinks and dinner. The waiting staff are as welcoming as they are professional and the bar staff are always happy to mix up a cocktail. The spacious heated terrace is great for people watching, perhaps over a sun downer or two.

Scottish produce, carefully presented

Local produce and thoughtful, artful presentation are at the heart of both the main menu and the prix fixe menu at The Lantern Room. Dishes range from familiar classics such as the burgers or beer-battered haddock to more complex options such as the creamed goat’s cheese with roasted beetroot, compressed watermelon and cracked black pepper tile.

From the sausage of the day to gourmet sandwiches and juicy steaks, there are choices for every occasion and appetite. Sharing platters and a selection of small plates add to the flexibility of the menu.
