    Excellent Afternoon Tea

Great service and friendly staff. Lovely selection and freshly prepared. The cinnamon scones were delicious as was everything else. Even though I had booked at short notice they still managed to offer a Gluten Free selection for my daughter. Would definitely recommend and hope to return again

    Lovely afteroon tea

Really nice afternoon tea in a lovely grand hotel in the New Town. The staff were very attentive and excellent value for money offer (£44 for 4), couldn't believe how much we got for that price. Definitely recommended.

Fine dining in Edinburgh New Town

The Atholl is part of The Howard hotel on Great King Street, right in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. Originally a private dining room for guests, this elegant, Georgian room is now open to non-residents. Filled with flowers and seating just fourteen diners, it is an intimate space offering fine food, a great wine list and attentive service. The restaurant is included in The Michelin Guide and has 2 AA Rosettes.

Seasonal Scottish produce

The finest, seasonal and local produce is used in The Atholl to create modern Scottish dishes. The menus change regularly but typical starters include the Mallaig scallops with a herb crumble, parsnip purée and sorrel dressing or the braised pork belly with a tamarind glaze, pickled vegetables and a rocket salad. Popular main courses include the seared Hebrides halibut; the twice baked goat’s cheese soufflé and the Scottish beef fillet which is served with potato rosti, samphire, roasted cherry tomatoes and a shallot reduction.
