Arrived 10mins early for our 5pm booking to be told our table wasn't ready. Given than in total there was approx 8 people in the place and ample staff, this was a bit of a surprise. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited for 10 mins before being directed to a table which had been set when we arrived. Menu looked OK and as we were hungry we thought we'd order 2 sharing plates, one of crispy chicken and one of sweet and sour king prawns. The chicken was quite nice but the prawns were like big bits of rubbery mush. And as for the portions, well if 4 prawns are meant to be enough to share with your table, you better hope you're not in a big party! When asked for feedback we did tell our server that the prawns were poor to which she told us they'd been having a problem with them and they were a bit hit and miss at the moment. Would have been nice to have been advised of this when we ordered. On to the mains and we ordered a steak and cheese burger and a rib eye cooked medium to well. The burger was as described and tasty. The steak however not cooked correctly. Despite looking charred when it arrived, it was still really pink inside. The server did ask us if we wanted it put back on the grill when she brought it out but as it looked to be so well done, we thought we'd stick with what we had. When we finished our mains and the server asked for our feedback, we told her the steak had been more medium rare that medium well to which she told us (with some pride) that they didn't fry steaks, they grilled them and it was quite difficult to work out how well they were cooked. At this point, I questioned that surely if a chef is exactly that, a chef, he should know how to cook a steak. In fairness, we weren't charged for the bits of rubber masquerading as prawns and were given 2 complimentary cocktails. That said, the food was poor, the service so so and the atmosphere a bit lacking. Won't go back.
