    Well what can I say , other than I felt I was a judge on master chef tasting exquisite food that was presented beautifully !! The starter was delicious , the main tasted great and was presented beautifully . The dessert was absolutely gorgeous , and we didn't want it to end . And then came the salted caramel lollipops with the coffee ...... wow !! This was our first visit but won't be the last fir any of us , can't wait to go back . An absolute gem of a restaurant and the staff were lovely too . 10 out of 10 👍😁

Modern Scottish in Edinburgh city centre

The award-winning Mark Greenaway may have come to the general public’s attention thanks to his appearances on The Great British Menu. However, his innovative cooking was drawing plaudits long before the cameras picked up on the Scottish chef. His flagship restaurant is a harmonious combination of modern style in a Georgian-era building. Formerly a bank, there is even a walk-in safe doubling as a well stocked wine cellar in the basement.

Innovative, visually arresting dishes

As well as an eight course tasting menu and a lunch/pre-theatre market menu, Restaurant Mark Greenaway offers a full a la carte. What they all have in common is the extensive use of the finest Scottish produce cooked with a playful imagination. Typical dishes might be the Loch Fyne crab ‘cannelloni’ served with smoked cauliflower custard and lemon pearls.

Unexpected flavour matches are a theme -for example – in dishes like the honey roast duck which, among other components, is accompanied by a ‘sausage roll’ and watermelon. Greenaway’s expertise as a pastry chef and his love of surprise come together in desserts such as the knot chocolate tart.

Restaurant Mark Greenaway is based on North Castle Street in between Queen Street and George Street. Waverley train station is a fifteen minute walk while the tramline is five minutes away on Princes Street. Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and National Portrait Gallery are all within easy walking distance of Restaurant Mark Greenaway.
