Had a lovely meal as usual. The service was amazing by Alvaro. It was a new menu which was very nice. We had the set menu which cost £15 for two courses which was great value for money. We were the only people in the restaurant and then one more couple arrived. We feel that this is a hidden gem and more needs to be done to make people aware of this fabulous restaurant.

The Brasserie at the Glasshouse is part of the five star Glasshouse hotel on Greenside Place in Edinburgh city centre. Glass walls flood the restaurant with light and give dramatic views of nearby Calton Hill. Comfy armchairs and upholstered benches in Paris green and forest hues give the Brasserie a peaceful, relaxing ambience.
Before or after dinner you can enjoy a drink in the recently renovated Snug whisky bar, which serves a selection of almost 100 types of Scotch. You can sip your dram by the fireplace or on the roof garden and even pair it with a premium cigar. And if whisky isn’t your tipple of choice, then the bar’s team of expert mixologists can also craft you a cocktail.
The Brasserie serves contemporary Scottish cuisine with an emphasis on fresh and local ingredients, all presented simply on the plate. The team of chefs have created an evolving menu designed to showcase Scotland’s national larder by using only the very best seasonal produce. The Head Chef has also hand-picked the best local suppliers, including Campbell Brothers meats and poultry, and seafood sourced from quaysides on both the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea.
Menus can change to reflect the seasons, but expect to find 28-day matured Buccleuch estate steaks, Sika venison and lemon sole in the grill section. Lighter options might include the olive oil-poached turbot served with a chorizo and haricot bean fricassee or the broccoli & quinoa risotto with pomegranate and crumbled goat’s cheese.
Desserts could feature the simple yoghurt posset or the more complex white chocolate & coconut ganache with banana sorbet and honeycomb. The cheeseboard offers a more savoury finish to dinner.
The Brasserie at the Glasshouse is part of The Glasshouse hotel on Greenside Place at the top of Leith Walk. There is car parking at the adjacent Q-Park. Services from nearby bus stops run to all points of the city and there is a taxi rank outside the hotel. Waverley train station is a ten minute walk away. As both the Playhouse Theatre and Vue Cinema are very close by, you could dine here before a show or film.
