About L'Escargot Bleu

Great food consistently
Well worth going to this place. The pre-theatre or special lunch menu is especially good value. Good choice of wine and knowledgeable staff who all speak French. One of my favourites in Edinburgh.

Brill 'little' restaurant
First time but we will Def be back. What appears to b a small places with 10 tables is actually massive across 2 floors. Food is outstanding...great deal with at least 4starters and mains to choose from on the 5pm deal. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh. Well run. Knowledgeable staff. No pressure or pushing for supplements.

Authentic French restaurant Edinburgh New Town
L’Escargot Bleu is a popular French restaurant on the ever buzzy Broughton Street in Edinburgh. It is the sister restaurant of L’Escargot Blanc on Queensferry Street. Both restaurants would find themselves near the top of any poll dedicated to finding Edinburgh’s most authentic French restaurants. At L’Escargot Bleu, vintage drinks adverts, efficient service and a soundtrack of Edith Piaf set the scene for satisfying, French culinary classics.
Scottish produce marries French technique
The menus at L’Escargot Bleu make the most of carefully sourced, seasonal, Scottish produce and the chef patron’s classic, French training. From beef carpaccio, made at the table, to pig cheek casseroles made with Sunnyside Farm pork, the emphasis at L’Escargot Bleu is on big, bold flavours.
Classic dishes like coq au vin are given a little twist – perhaps using beer rather than wine. Other dishes, like the terrine with pickles and mustard, are simply great examples of sturdy and time-tested, French provincial cooking. As well as an a la carte menu, L’Escargot Bleu has a good value lunch and early evening menu.
