Café Andaluz is a Spanish tapas restaurant on George Street in Edinburgh city centre. With an interior that looks like it has been airlifted in from Andalucia – terracotta pots, Moorish hanging lamps and intricately carved wooden furniture – you get the impression that you could be dining in a bodega rather than the heart of Edinburgh. Please note that Café Andaluz has two branches in Edinburgh. Please check you are reserving the correct location before completing your booking.
The restaurant has a wide selection of tapas but the common thread is that they are all made from fresh ingredients and prepared on the premises. As ever with tapas, one of the best things about the Cafe Andaluz menu is that it can please numerous people whatever their preferences.
Creative vegetarian dishes like the sliced mushrooms with garlic, truffle oil and smoked Tetilla cheese on croutons nestle alongside seafood dishes such as the crisp, fried baby squid or the classic gambas pil pil: hot, roast prawns with olive oil, fresh chillies and garlic. Carnivorous eaters might prefer the spicy chorizo sausage sautéed with sweet red onions in red wine or the lamb chops scented with rosemary, thyme and garlic.
Café Andaluz is a ten minute walk from Waverley train station and close to the tram plus several bus routes. The shopping opportunities of George Street and Harvey Nicks are on the doorstep.
