Fantastic Fish Restaurant
We had a great evening in Cadiz, I would definitely go back. The chorizo starter was absolutely fantastic and the sea bass main was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes seafood!
Seafood restaurant in Edinburgh city centre
Opened in the summer of 2016, Cadiz is a cosmopolitan seafood restaurant on George Street in Edinburgh city centre. The menu takes much inspiration from the Mediterranean and the decor wouldn’t look out of place in a smart harbour restaurant in the South of France. Stripped stone and beach hut wooden walls mix comfortably with seafood-themed art and fashionably recycled storm lights. Both the cocktail and wine list reflect the menu’s emphasis on seafood.
Scottish seafood with Med flavours
With menus which feature Shetland mussels, West Coast langoustines, Mull scallops and prime Scottish beef steaks, Scotland’s natural larder is well represented at Cadiz. The restaurant aims to offer flavours from the Med and further afield but, as the name suggests, there is a definite lean towards Spanish flavours. For instance, the chicken liver pâté is infused with Oloroso sherry while a dish of grilled salmon is accompanied by a chickpea, chorizo and red pepper casserole.
From shellfish bisque to the whole lemon sole, seafood takes centre stage but the steaks, Iberico de Bellota ham and Spanish tortilla offer alternatives. A lunch/pre-theatre menu complements the a la carte.
City centre transport and attractions
Cadiz is a first floor restaurant above Cafe Andaluz on George Street. There is limited on-street parking. The tram line and the city’s major bus routes run along nearby Princes Street. Waverley is the nearest train station. Edinburgh’s main shopping streets and many of the city’s major attractions are, at most, a fifteen minute walk.
