I wanted somewhere for lunch with a friend that was accessible by bus and convenient for both of us. The reviews on 5pm led me to Asti and I was not disappointed. We had a table in the back room where you have lovely views of the garden through the tall windows. It's a small room but tables are reasonably spaced so you're not on top of your neighbour.
We were meant to be having the 2 course lunch deal but ended up going a la carte. My friend had the risotto verde which was delicious. I had 2 starters - the arancini with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes and a tomato sauce. It was much bigger than I'd imagined and a bit less moist than I'd anticipated BUT with the sauce dipped into, it was delicious; so not as disappointing as my first mouthful made me think. My other dish was ravioli stuffed with (I forget precisely) crab and prawn. Anyway, it was absolutely delicious. My Sicilian white wine was also rather good. The service was excellent, friendly without being intrusive. Oh, and the coffee was proper, flavoursome coffee. I will definitely go back again, plus the prices were perfectly reasonable for the quality.
