About The Pentland Restaurant
Lovely evening, attentive helpful staff and the food was excellent, great value for money
Lovely venue. The restaurant was a little quiet though so the atmosphere could have been a little better. Good food and great service.
Scottish restaurant on Edinburgh outskirts
Pentland Restaurant is part of the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club. The original hotel building dates back several centuries and that heritage is reflected in the sumptuous decor of the dining room. Depending on how well, or otherwise, their round went, golfers may enjoy the views of the hotel’s championship golf courses.
Scottish flavours, modern interpretation
Scottish flavours are to the fore at the Pentland Restaurant, sometimes complemented by influences from elsewhere. For example, a starter of duck confit terrine is accompanied by brioche, pickled vegetables and a quince purée.
A more traditional option might be the caramelised scallops served with creamed chanterelle mushrooms and pancetta bacon. Lovers of top quality lamb, beef and game are in for a treat with dishes like the venison loin served with creamed parsnip, red cabbage and a pear rôsti or the Angus Beef fillet accompanied by French beans, roast tomato, an onion ring and mushroom stuffed with Dunsyre cheese. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy desserts such as the mulled pear with tiramisu parfait.
