About The Mash Tun
Good pub food
Please remember this is a pub. No children after 8pm. That said we had booked for 7pm had great food and left prompt!
Thursday steak and bottle of wine deal great taste and value.
Just need to book earlier to have more time. Oh, and 5pm need to book our table!!!
Nice local pub, pretty decent food.
Booked a two for 1 pizza deal on 5pm.co.uk, had been for food previously so I knew the quality of the food was good. Arrive at 7pm for dinner, only to discover it's live football tv night on a Saturday evening, so the pub was full of football fans. This was ok but that coupled with the pounding music (our table was right next to the projector screen and a speaker) created a "interesting" ambiance for our dining experience.
The staff were pretty laid back but helpful, and the food arrived in good time and was very tasty and excellent value for money.
Though for where the table was situated (in a corner next to the door) I had people bumping the back of my chair every 5 mins, trying to get past. Though not a massive deal.
So in sort, decent place to go for an informal bite to eat, down to earth, helpful staff, and excellent value for money. Just be careful of what day/time you plan your visit as it might be too loud/busy.
I will definitely be going back ;)
Buzzing beer bar and eatery on Edinburgh’s East Side
The Mash Tun on Easter Road is an unpretentious modern pub and restaurant offering a diverse range of beers, along with fresh pizza, comfort food classics and traditional fare. Décor has contemporary touches, with exposed brick and rustic woods, but the atmosphere remains that of a friendly local, a great place to catch a match or some live music, join in with the quiz or sample some excellent craft ales.
Pizza, burgers and real ales
The Mash Tun has built up something of a reputation for its bespoke, freshly-made pizza, baked in-house using a home-made tomato and basil sauce, with your choice of toppings. Gourmet burgers are also handmade, using locally-sourced beef and served on a brioche bun.
Additional options include plenty of familiar comfort food pub classics, including steak and Guinness pie, bangers and mash and flat-iron steak and chips. Sandwiches feature a selection of fillings that goes way beyond most pub menus.
The Mash Tun offers a diverse selection of guest real ales and craft beers, on draught and bottled, with the occasional tap takeover special event for beer aficionados.
Edinburgh transport links
The Mash Tun is on Easter Road on the eastern side of the city, well-served by bus stops on the street or nearby on London Road. It’s an obvious choice for a pre-match drink or a post-match consolation/celebration after a Hibernian home fixture. On-street parking nearby is limited, particularly on match days. The nearest paid car parks are at the St. James Centre or Omni Centre, both around 20 minutes away on foot.
