A good-looking hangout, The Constitution Bar is, not surprisingly, on Leith’s Constitution Street. Stripped stone walls, clever lighting and simple, comfy seating give it a contemporary feel. Live music, plenty of sports and a great selection of interesting beers from Scotland and beyond mean that it always has a buzz about it. The outside seating is popular for al fresco beer-supping when the sun is out.
Over several different menus, The Constitution Bar offers everything from a full Scottish breakfast to evening meals, Sunday roast lunches and a very keenly priced express lunch offer. Where possible, the kitchen uses ingredients which are grown, reared and landed locally. Popular dishes include starters such as the ricotta-stuffed chilli peppers and the BBQ ribs. The double cheese and mac has many fans as do lighter options like the sea bass fillet in a garlic and white wine sauce or the super foods salad. Carnivorous diners may prefer the mixed grill or something from the extensive selection of beef and chicken burgers. You may want to leave room for desserts like the sticky toffee pudding or the mango and coconut cheesecake.
The Constitution Bar is on Constitution Street in Leith. Waverley train station is a ten minute taxi ride and several bus routes to and from the city centre go past the bar. There is limited on-street parking. Local attractions include the Royal Yacht Britannia.
