Dumplings dumplings dumplings
The look of this place is very basic, but the food is outstanding - it deserves to be fully booked all the time! The dumplings are amazing and all the food is very fresh. Some of the best Chinese food I've had! The place was quite understaffed so you'll need a bit of patience, but the staff were very friendly & hard working.

Authentic Chinese in Edinburgh’s West End
Run by the irrepressible Jian Wang, Chop Chop on Morrison Street is unique among Edinburgh’s Chinese restaurants. Not only has it been awarded an AA Rosette but it also featured on Gordon Ramsay’s F-Word. The decor is comfortable, clean and basic while the welcome is always friendly. The main draw is the fantastic food, especially the dumplings.
Specialists in northern Chinese cuisine
Chop Chop specialises in dishes from northern China. The steamed or pan-fried dumplings, available with several fillings, are deservedly popular. Other recommendations include the spicy lamb with cumin seeds; the crispy, battered beef strips in a soy, vinegar and sugar dressing plus the pork ribs.
Meat-free dishes include the cucumber and glass noodle salad; stir-fried tofu and the melting, more-ish aubergine which is pan-fried with garlic and spring onions.
As well as a very keenly priced, set lunch menu, Chop Chop offers an a la carte menu. Perhaps the best way to experience all the kitchen has to offer is to try one of the unlimited banquet options – perfect for dining in a group.
