Steakhouse and bar in Edinburgh city centre
A popular fixture on Edinburgh’s Broughton Street since the 1990s, Smoke Stack is a laidback steak house and bar. Stone walls, tiles, chunky wooden furniture and bare light bulbs give it a stripped back feel but the atmosphere is as warm and welcoming as you could wish for. On sunny days, the outside tables are popular for watching Broughton Street’s quirky street life.
Steaks, burgers and more
Smoke Stack likes to take top quality locally sourced produce and cook it simply. Steaks from John Gilmour Butchers take pride of place. They are dry-aged for at least 21 days and served with chips, green salad, mash or new potatoes. Burgers, hearty salads, fish & chips, fajitas and meaty sandwiches also demand attention. Moving away from the a la carte menu, Smoke Stack offers set daily menus, a breakfast selection and, at the weekends, a brunch/lunch menu. For dessert, brownies, banoffee pie and cheesecakes compete with a selection of splits and sundaes. Alongside a surprisingly extensive wine list, there are inventive cocktails and lots of beers, many of which are Scottish. Smoothies, shakes and floats offer non-alcoholic alternatives.
Broughton transport links and attractions
