Lovely afternoon
4 of us had an amazing afternoon tea here yesterday. The food was delicious - beautiful fresh sandwiches, warm scones and yummy cakes. The venue was quiet but we didn't mind as we were left to relax, take our time and enjoy ourselves. Would highly recommend.

Monboddo - really good price but could have been presented better!
Went to Monboddo on Saturday 27 February with two girlfriends for afternoon tea. Really good price - as £12 with 20% off - so £9.60 each. The cakes and scones were lovely but the sandwiches were really uninventive - tuna and cheese, egg mayonnaise and coronation chicken and were served up as massive doorstop sandwiches - not very attractive. Service and ambience was lovely though!

Cosmopolitan bar in Central Edinburgh
Tucked away inside DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Monboddo is an ultra sleek cocktail bar and dining spot on Bread Street.
Although it takes its name from an 18th century Scottish philosopher, the decor of eye-catching turquoise sofas, designer lighting and statement mirrors is fully contemporary. The wall-to-ceiling windows let in lots of natural light and also make Monboddo ideal for people watching.
Casual all-day dining
The small plate selection is designed to offer a great variety, from Scottish lamb rump to flaky fish to a veggie treat of seared cauliflower steak.
The cocktails have been designed in-house by the talented bar team and are themed around Lord Monboddo’s eccentric past. The Empty Cabinet is a fan favourite along with the Roots of Scotland, which includes Irn-Bru syrup and whisky. If traditional is more your style, then classic cocktails and signature serves are also available, as well as wines, spirits and whiskies.
