A Polynesian paradise in Edinburgh city centre, The Auld Reekie Tiki Bar is on Frederick Street. It is a warren-like basement bar which is easily identifiable by the Easter Island style heads which guard its entrance. In addition to a wide range of Tiki cocktails – all served in custom-made ceramic mugs – fun is very much on the menu here. Along with DJs and dancing, the attractions include live sport, foosball, vintage arcade games and the Reekie Tiki Skate Girls. If you want to eat late, The Auld Reekie Tiki Bar serves food until midnight, Monday to Wednesday, and until 2am, the rest of the week.
At The Auld Reekie Tiki Bar, the blackboards might joke that the soup of the day is rum but there is much more on offer here. From Malaysian rendang to Thai red curry, the kitchen likes to explore the food of South East Asia. Whether you want a Crying Beef Tiger salad or a tofu and veggie red curry, The Auld Reekie Tiki chefs can oblige. Dessert might be a simple oven-baked nectarine, fresh pineapple or the cheesecake of the day.
The Auld Reekie Tiki Bar is on Frederick Street in Edinburgh city centre. Waverley train station is a brisk five minute walk while the tram line and numerous bus routes run along nearby Princes Street. There is limited on-street parking. Nearby attractions include the National Portrait Gallery and the boutique shops of Multrees Walk and George Street.
