Since opening at the Finnieston end of Argyle Street in 2006, Villa Toscana has earned a glowing reputation for authentic Italian food. Just as Italian is the warm welcome offered to all the customers. The walls are decorated with pictures of iconic Italian buildings such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as colourful scenes of traditional village life. The SEC and Hydro are a short walk from Villa Toscana. The restaurant’s quick-to-serve, two course concert menu is correspondingly popular with concert-goers.
The extensive a la carte has all the options you might expect from veal saltimbocca and chicken in a green pepper sauce to fritto misto and pan-fried sea bass in a white wine, cream and saffron sauce. The pastas are made with egg and many regulars choose Tony’s tortellini – pasta filled with ricotta and spinach, peppers, tomatoes and a touch of cream. The house Toscana pizza is topped with spinach, Italian sausage and ricotta cheese or you might prefer a classic Margherita or quattro formaggi. And with six different risotto to choose from, diners at Villa Toscana are seldom short of options.
Villa Toscana is on Argyle Street, Finnieston. As mentioned, the SEC and Hydro are a short walk. Other attractions include Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. There is limited on-street car parking. The nearest train station is Exhibition Centre.
