    Brilliant discovery

So glad to have found Niven's. Lovely interior, small but more spacious than similar brunch places nearby. The whole menu looked great. We had the ham and cheese french toast and the cullen skink toastie, which was *amazing*. Two other people in the restaurant were also having it. Good coffee and brownie too. The evening menu also looks great, so we'll have to go back to try that at some point.

The guy serving was very polite but didn't seem to know we'd booked via 5pm. Had to ask for the set menu! Loved the gnocchi cheese, the crispy prawns were tasty and the arancini were nice but a bit cool in the middle. The coley was well cooked. The chicken looked delicious, but the birthday girl's dish had a pink area and that put her off. We were all offered free drinks - 2 took coffees. Had originally asked if something could be done for a birthday, but nothing happened. All in all, disappointing.
