Salutation Hotel

Thought to be Scotland’s oldest hotel, Perth’s Salutation Hotel has played host to everybody from Bonnie Prince Charlie to David Bowie.

These days, you don’t need to be The Young Pretender or indeed a Thin White Duke to enjoy all that this historic hotel has to offer.

Located in the centre of the city on South Street, The Sally is conveniently close to attractions such as Perth Museum and Art Gallery as well as being less than an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Salutation Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1699. While it wears its heritage with pride, it also features all the modern comforts that travellers expect.

The Salutation Hotel combines the atmosphere and heritage of an historic establishment with 21st-century levels of hospitality. Classic rooms feature traditional décor, ensuite bathrooms, TV and hot drinks trays, and WiFi is available in the public areas.

Scottish dishes

Both breakfast and dinner are taken in the splendid Adam Restaurant with its original barrel vaulted ceiling and magnificent, neo-classical Adam window.

Their table d’hote menu featuring lots of seasonal, Scottish ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons but typical dishes might feature Perthshire lamb, Shetland salmon and Highland venison.

There is also a “Sally Squirrel” menu for children with smaller versions of dishes like roast dinner, bangers and mash and beef burgers.

The hotel’s cosy pub, Reids Bar serves delicious lunches and bar suppers to suit all types of dining. Throughout the summer there is local entertainment.

See & do

There is plenty to keep guests at Salutation Hotel entertained. As well as great concerts and shows at Horsecross theatre and concert hall, Perth has a regular farmers’ market and there are more than 50 golf courses within easy driving distance.

Other attractions include stately homes such as Scone Palace. Alternatively, guests can swing by Tullibardine Distillery or Perth Racecourse.

The surrounding Perthshire countryside is also there to be explored.
