    very pleasant place.

Long driveway to hotel, need a car. The deal was perfect as a surprise for my sisters birthday. Breakfast in the morning was a bit manic, could maybe have had an extra couple of staff to take the pressure of the staff that were working. Had a lovely time, will return.

Nestled into the beautiful Perthshire landscape, Dunkeld House Hotel offers luxury country house hotel accommodation. This four-star hotel, once the summer house of the 7th Duke of Atholl, sits on 280 acres of well-maintained and natural woodland.

Under new ownership since 2016 and recently refurbished, it overlooks the wide and fast-flowing River Tay, renowned for its famous salmon fishing.

Just over an hour’s drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh, it is ideal for a romantic getaway or a tranquil break where you can simply enjoy the Scottish scenery at its very best. With a spa, health suite and plenty of fantastic outdoor activities on the doorstep, a stay at Dunkeld House Hotel can be as relaxing or as action-packed as you wish it to be.

Great choice of room

All of the 98 rooms at Dunkeld House Hotel have stunning views across woodlands, the Tay and Perthshire’s vast and rugged landscape. Guests can choose to stay in the original grade 2 listed building or the recently refurbished extension.

There is also the option to stay in the estate’s Fisherman’s Cottage or The General Wades Lodge, which sleeps up to twelve.

From comfortable twin and double rooms to ten luxurious suites, there are several rooms to suit all occasions and they range in décor from traditional to contemporary.

Dining

The hotel’s Riverside Restaurant serves contemporary Scottish dishes using the best produce from the surrounding countryside, lochs, rivers and seas. The kitchen also uses ingredients from their own herb garden as well as smoking their own salmon. Venison from the estate makes regular appearances on the menu.

The Bar and Lounge offers light meals and snacks throughout the day. With relaxing sofas, log fires and views across the gardens and river, this is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy afternoon or an after dinner malt whisky.

It is also an elegant venue for afternoon tea. If the weather is kind, the terrace overlooking the river is another popular spot for afternoon tea, perhaps with a glass of something chilled and sparkling.

Relax in the spa

The recently refurbished spa at Dunkeld House Hotel Spa offers an indulgent range of spa treatments and products from the ishga Skincare range. Of course, the highly trained therapists also offer beauty treatments such as manicures, lashes, massage and waxing.

Guests are welcome to take a dip in the heated indoor pool, unwind in the sauna or steam room, or de-stress in the whirlpool spa bath. If you are feeling more energetic, forget pounding the streets or repetitive lane swimming. In the health suite, gym or pool, you can work out with magical views over the Craigvinean Hills.

See and do

The 280 acre estate around Dunkeld House Hotel offers plenty of walks and opportunities to watch the local wildlife. You could also get closer to nature with a spot of salmon fishing. The estate also offers archery, clay pigeon shooting and tennis.

Road cycling or off road cycling are at their best in Perthshire. Of course, the surrounding area is a golfer’s paradise, too. You could visit Dunkeld’s own golf club or venture further afield to the R&A in St Andrews.
