The Kingsmills Hotel & Kingsclub, IV2 3LP
Set in four acres of lovingly-manicured grounds, The Kingsmills Hotel is a four-star luxury hotel in Inverness. Dating back to the 18th century, the hotel blends traditional elegance with modern comforts.
As well as a variety of well appointed rooms, the hotel has fantastic facilities. In addition to the spa, leisure centre and swimming pool, The Kingsmill has two restaurants and a superb whisky bar.
Conveniently, Inverness airport is only twenty minutes away while Inverness train station and city centre are a ten minute drive. Just as conveniently, the Cairngorms National Park, Loch Ness and Speyside’s distilleries and whisky trails are within easy reach of The Kingsmill.
The Kingsmill Hotel has six different types of accommodation from Classic rooms to luxurious Cocoon and Retreat rooms in the exclusive Kingsclub building which is set apart from the main hotel. Garden and Patio rooms mean that guests can step straight from their room into the tree-lined grounds
All rooms are light and airy, with large beds you’ll want to melt into, crisp white linen and extravagant soft furnishing. Of course, ensuite bathrooms, flat screen TVs and hot drinks facilities are standard. Many rooms have private balconies to watch the day draw to an end.
The cosy Inglis Restaurant and the airy Conservatory offer a choice of dining experiences. The former serves a regular changing table d’hôte while the Conservatory has an a la carte menu. Both make the best use of Scottish ingredients such as Macbeth lamb, West Coast scallops and Morangie brie. The Sunday lunch and afternoon tea menus add further choice.
Overlooking the gardens, the Conservatory is filled with natural light. In the summer evenings, when the day is long, many diners like to round off their meal by watching the sunset from the Conservatory terrace with a cocktail to hand.
The Kingsmill also has a choice of private dining rooms for family dinners, business events and weddings.
The Whisky Bar stocks an extensive range of single malts from honeyed Speysides to peaty Islay malts.
The Kingsclub Spa offers a wide range of pampering treatments and therapies from relaxing LUX candle massages to healing reflexology.
In the leisure centre, guests can work out in the gym. It boasts a wide range Cybex exercise machines, including treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers and rowing machines. Afterwards, you could take a dip in the twelve metre heated swimming pool or head for the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
If you love exploring the great outdoors, you could not do better than to base yourself in The Kingsmill Hotel. As we mentioned, the Cairngorms National Park – and all the associated hiking, climbing and mountain biking – is within easy driving distance of Inverness. Wildlife lovers could look for dolphins in the Moray and Dornoch Firths or spot the ospreys at Boat of Garten. You could explore fantastic old castles such as Urquhart on the banks of Loch Ness or take a cruise on the famous loch.
Golfers are spoiled for choice with numerous courses in the area. The Royal Dornoch, Castle Stuart and Nairn Golf Club are top of the wish list for many.
