Bedrooms at Forss House Hotel

The rooms at Forss House Hotel are decorated in cosy, traditional furnishings and have free WiFi, a flat screen TV and DVD player, coffee and tea maker, an ensuite bathroom with a hairdryer and shower, and a desk.

Restaurant with local produce

The restaurant has a reputation as one of the finest in the north of Scotland and is the only one in Caithness with two AA Rosettes.

Chefs at the restaurant are fortunate to have the bounty of local produce to use in their dishes from neighbouring estates and the sea, and their menus are based around the freshest ingredients available at the time of year.

The menus at the hotel change with the seasons, but dishes may include: Mey selection of beef fillet served with confit celeriac, Scottish chanterelles and black truffle jus; oven roasted partridge served with potato rosti, wilted kale, toasted pine nuts, and game jus; and twice cooked blue cheese souffle served with red wine poached pears and a walnut dressing.

The dessert section of the menu includes creative dishes like pistachio cake with cassis sorbet, and hot chocolate chip souffle with vanilla bean ice cream.

h3. Dramatic, unspoiled scenery

Located on the tip of the north coast of Scotland, at the edge of Europe, Caithness offers one of the most dramatic, unspoiled scenery in the UK (if not the world).

Forss House is situated on the famous North Coast 500, a road trip which follows the spectacular coastal scenery of the north of Scotland, and would be the perfect place for a pit stop during your drive.

The surrounding landscape of Caithness offers a wealth of crumbling castles and traditional crofting cottages to explore. Guests also have the option of getting the boat to the Orkney Isles. Outdoor activities in the area include walking, cycling, surfing, horse riding, golf, and salmon fishing. If you’re very lucky, you may even see the Northern Lights.
