Charming boutique hotel in Glasgow’s Merchant City
Rab Ha’s Hotel manages to blend the rustic charms of a country inn with all the comforts of a buzzy city centre escape. Based in the stylish Merchant City area, it is a classic Glasgow drinking and dining spot much-loved by locals.
This family-owned hotel, bar and restaurant was lovingly refurbished in 2017 but still retains its timeless atmosphere. Inside you will find plenty of characterful touches, from an open fireplace to stripped stone walls to wood panelling.
Rab Ha’s is named after a legendary 19th century Glasgow character who was known for his love of good food. Nowadays, the restaurant’s hearty fare would most likely put a big smile on his face.
Cosy and contemporary rooms
Each of the ensuite guest rooms features a flat-screen TV, WiFi, iPod docks and tea & coffee making facilities.
You will also get complimentary still and sparkling water, plus a nice crisp newspaper to enjoy in the morning.
Menu of Scottish and global dishes
The restaurant is overseen by Chef Alan Donachie, who has a passion for serving up contemporary international cuisine alongside traditional Scottish favourites.
Main course are eclectic and have a definite comfort food vibe. Typical dishes include steak pie with Glasgow’s best mash and gravy; Thai chicken curry, and salmon teriyaki. Or you could tuck into the staff favourite of Cajun chicken smothered in honey ginger cream and served with fries.
Great location for theatre, gigs and shopping
Rab Ha’s is based in the heart of Merchant City on Hutcheson Street. Nearby venues include the Tron Theatre, City Halls & Old Fruitmarket and Barrowlands. Both Queen Street and Central train stations are a short walk away, while you will also be handy for all the shops of Argyle Street.
