Description

A four star boutique hotel, restaurant and bar, Edinburgh’s Tigerlily was a real pioneer when it launched on George Street in 2005. With smart, contemporary design, a vibrant bar and a fresh, innovative restaurant, it helped kick start George Street’s reputation as a party hub for the capital’s style setters. Fast forward to the present day and regular refurbishments and a commitment to keeping abreast with fashions mean that it retains its edge.

Backing up style with substance, Tigerlily pays attention to detail at every level from the Egyptian cotton sheets in the rooms to the array of specially selected garnishes on its cocktails. Similarly, the bar and restaurant have jaw-dropping interiors but not at the expense of friendly and professional service.

Great location

Another plus is that Tigerlily is right in the heart of the city centre. Equally handy for Edinburgh’s major attractions as it is for transport hubs such as Waverley, it is ideally located for business or pleasure.

Choose your room

Tigerlily has 33 individually designed, ensuite rooms. These range from classic double and twins, through luxury doubles and suites to junior suites and the grand Georgian suite.
Tucked away at the very top of this incredible building lies the Black Room, a sultry little number that features a real fireplace and a wicker chair suspended from the ceiling.

The Georgian Suite has a four poster bed, an enormous shower and bath, real fire and separate lounge area.

All of the rooms are extremely comfortable and have a unique design which blends contemporary touches and colours with the building’s traditional features. WiFi, polished hardwood floors and king-size beds with sumptuous pillows and luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets come as standard.

There are also plenty of toys to play with from wide screen plasma televisions with an extensive range of digital channels to Bluetooth speakers.

The bathrooms feature White Company toiletries, GHD hair driers and GHD hair straighteners. Of course, no trip to Tigerlily would be complete without slipping into a signature Tigerlily bathrobe and slippers before bedtime.

Wine and dine

With mirrored walls, chandeliers, clever lighting and several different spaces, the colourful decor of the dining and bar areas helps make for a memorable occasion whether you are visiting for a business breakfast; lunch with a friend; a leisurely dinner or cocktails.

The menus change regularly with the chefs taking inspiration from around the globe. From Korean BBQ chicken to a red and golden beetroot salad via the steaks on the grill section, there is plenty of choice. Running throughout the menus is a commitment to using local, seasonal ingredients such as venison and crab.

Tigerlily also serves afternoon tea, a special treat when taken in the eye-catching Georgian Lounge. When the sun is shining, the pavement terrace tables are much sought after. Finally, just to emphasise the point again, Tigerlily is well known for its cocktails. At present, their award-winning mixologists have created more than a hundred 100 recipes on the ever-evolving list.
