About the Edinburgh Thistle Hotel

The 3-star Edinburgh Thistle Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1924 and is right in the heart of Edinburgh’s stylish West End. This means it’s a short stroll away from the shops, boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants of Edinburgh city centre. Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the Theatre District are all just around the corner. The hotel is situated in an elegant Georgian townhouse and many of its original features are still intact. Its cosy Manor Bar is a great place to relax in front of a crackling fire with a coffee or wee dram of whisky. Edinburgh International Airport is just a 20-minute drive away.

Elegant rooms

The Edinburgh Thistle has 15 individually designed ensuite bedrooms. All rooms are elegant, comfortable and spacious, with king size or super king size beds. Each has an HD Digital Colour Plasma TV/radio with Freeview, DVD player, wifi, alarm clock, phone, desk and tea and coffee making facilities. Two of the rooms have views of Edinburgh Castle, which looks impressive when lit up at night.

Generous breakfast

A full continental selection is served in the Manor Dining Room every morning, including fresh croissants, chocolate croissants and butteries from the hotel’s favourite bakers, Donachie’s. The continental also includes toast, fruit and a selection of juices, tea and coffee. Alternatively, you can pay extra for a traditional Scottish breakfast. This includes high-quality produce such as sweet-cured smoked bacon, Cumberland sausages and local black pudding. Vegetarian options are also available. If you’re heading off early you can order breakfast on-the-go, provided in a handy paper bag.

Exploring Edinburgh

From its Medieval castle perched on an extinct volcano to the imposing mound of Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh is a jaw-dropping city to explore. Take a wander through the winding Old Town area and expect to stumble upon an abundance of cool cafes, unique gift shops and atmospheric pubs serving artisan gins, local ales and traditional whiskies. Make sure to take time to visit the Scottish Parliament building, Holyrood Palace and the Royal Botanic Gardens. In the evening, you could head to a show at a leading performance venue like the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Royal Lyceum or Edinburgh Playhouse.
