Description

You certainly don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy a stay at The Carnoustie Golf Hotel. However, as the name suggests, this four star hotel is a paradise for those who do know the difference between an albatross and an eagle. Situated next to the first tee and the 18th green of the famous Carnoustie Golf Links Championship Course, many of the hotel’s 81 rooms have views over the course while others look out to the charming seaside town of Carnoustie.

Looking smart and fresh after a recent refurbishment, The Carnoustie Golf Hotel is well located for exploring Scotland’s East Coat. The City of Discovery – Dundee – is ten miles away while Aberdeen, Scotland’s oil capital, is sixty miles north.

Rooms with a birdie eye view

Many of the 81 ensuite rooms and all of the ten suites at Carnoustie Golf Hotel have views over the 1999 and 2007 Open Championship course or Carnoustie Bay. In the unlikely event of guests tiring of the view from the windows, the rooms are attached with digital over terrestrial TV. As well as 24 hour room service, the guest rooms are equipped with hairdryers, ironing facilities and a hospitality tray. The hotel has WiFi Hotspots.

h3.Modern Scottish menu

Refurbished in 2016 with a tasteful and modern Scottish theme, Calder’s Bistro and Terrace offers a popular selection of classic dishes. From local steak and locally-landed haddock to Thai crab cakes and dishes of red mullet on saffron linguine, the kitchen caters to a wide array of tastes.

Golf in and around Carnoustie

Adjacent to the hotel, the Championship standard, 18-hole Carnoustie links golf course is recognised as one of the top three courses in the country. The nearby Burnside course includes the infamous 17th hole, considered one of the hardest par fours in golf.

The Buddon Links Course is guaranteed to test every golfers’ accuracy and control and is an ideal introduction to links golf prior to tackling the other more demanding courses at Carnoustie. Preferential tee-times, caddies and tuition can be arranged for guests at The Carnoustie Golf Hotel.

Spa

Sooth away the strains of the day with spa treatments including aromatherapy, beauty treatments – including Elemis skincare – and a variety of massages designed to help after a particularly testing eighteen holes.

The leisure facilities at the hotel include a 15-station gymnasium, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

See & do in Angus

As we mentioned, there is more than golf around these parts. Angus offers miles of idyllic beaches, untouched glens, rugged mountains and breath-taking scenery to explore.

History fans may want to visit Arbroath Abbey, Dudhope Castle or Glamis Castle, childhood home of The Queen Mother. Captain Scott’s Discovery ship is open for view in Dundee and the whisky trail is always appealing.
