Best Western Plus Philipburn House Hotel is a four star country house hotel in the Scottish Borders. Dating back to the 18th century, it was originally the Dower House for the Philiphaugh Estate and retains plenty of period character. Sitting in four acres of woodland grounds and gardens, the hotel is on the outskirts of the historic town of Selkirk.

The menus change regularly but, when in season, typical dishes might include a dish of pheasant supreme with apricot and tarragon wrapped in bacon, set on a potato rosti and served with a red wine jus. More traditional options might include the steak, ale and mushroom pie or the beer-battered cod served with peas and chips.
There is an extensive range of vegetarian dishes and the kitchen can happily cater for special dietary requirements.
Local attractions include some of Scotland’s best fishing facilities, hiking and horse-riding trails; the thrills and spills of National Hunt racing at Kelso, and some very attractive golf courses.
Cycling is a great way to explore the attractive market towns and rural splendour of the region. The hotel has a secure cycle store if you fancy bringing a bike and taking on the local Four Abbeys route or Tweed Valley path.
