    Weekend away

Let's start with the actual deal, £69 for two nights B&B with evening meal on the first night, no extra supplement for weekend stays ( a pleasant surprise these days ) thought the deal was too good to be true but boy was I wrong .The staff where all extremely pleasant in every aspect ,bar well stocked at reasonable prices for a hotel ,warm , clean and welcoming.Ok the room was not exactly plush ,view from the window was of a slate roof ,not exactly the superb sea views that we had hoped for but I gues you get what you pay for ,the bed was clean comfy ,toilet again was clean ,walls had flaking plaster but it's an old building so wasn't exactly expecting much more.I did get a peek at another room and it certainly looked a lot more pleasant so not sure if getting deal via 5 pm and not booking direct has affect on standard of rooms you get .What I can say is for what we paid and the brilliant service from staff it's quite an amazing deal .Definately on my top 5 hotels I've been too ( if you can see by flaky walls ).So all in all a pleasant weekend away .

Dating back to 1812, The Anchorage Hotel is the oldest licensed premises in Troon and blends excellent views of the Isle of Arran with traditional Scottish hospitality.

With a cosy bar, spacious sea-view rooms, a large garden area and staff who take pride in making your time at The Anchorage Hotel as enjoyable as possible, it is a winning combination.

Traditional Scottish rooms

The large spacious rooms at The Anchorage Hotel maintain the traditional Scottish theme found throughout the hotel and each room is named after a malt whisky.

There are nineteen en-suite rooms with some having an excellent view of the marina and the Isle of Arran. Each room has a direct dial telephone, tea and coffee facilities, colour television, hairdryer and use of ironing facilities.

Fresh Scottish produce

The hotel’s warm and welcoming bar restaurant is the perfect place to sample fresh, local produce. The menu changes regularly but typical dishes might be the pan-fried breast of chicken with black pudding and whisky cream or the haddock goujons with fries, salad and a tartare sauce.

When the sun is shining, the large garden area is popular for dining and drinks.

Things to do

Ayrshire is perfect for the keen golfer with twenty challenging courses in the area and six of them are on the doorstep in Troon.

Close to The Anchorage Hotel you will find Royal Troon Golf Club, host of The British Open Championship eight times, most recently in 2004. The nearby town of Prestwick boasts the world famous Old Prestwick course, home of the very first Open Championship in 1851.

Of course, The Anchorage Hotel offers plenty of options to entertain guests both young and old. The traditional Scottish bar is a great place to relax with a malt whisky. The entertainment on offer includes live sporting events, quiz nights and a DJ.
