As well as majestic views, the Argyll Hotel offers two great restaurants to choose from — the Clyde Suite and the Rio, plus cosy lounges. It was refurbished fairly recently, making it a stylish base for exploring Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula.

Refurbished rooms

Each of the Argyll Hotel’s ensuite guest rooms have been refurbished to a high standard with contemporary decor in vibrant earthy tones. Facilities include a comfortable bed, flat screen HD TV, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron, individual heater, free WiFi, complimentary toiletries and desk with chair.

You can also take advantage of facilities like the laundry service, room service, morning wake up calls and newspapers delivered to your room.

Clyde Suite restaurant

The Visit Scotland award-winning Clyde Suite restaurant is a family friendly space with lovely views over the River Clyde.

Diners can enjoy hearty, traditional Scottish dishes alongside international favourites. Although menus can change, expect mains such as the Aberdeen Angus fillet steak roasted to your taste, the fresh fillet of Scottish salmon and the Asian fusion vegetable stir fry. A range of Indian curries and pakoras are also available.

Rio Restaurant

The hotel’s vibrant Rio Restaurant is the most popular eating spot in town. Diners can enjoy stylish Italian décor, beautifully prepared tables and a light, airy atmosphere while feasting on dishes with a Sicilian twist.

Menus can change regularly, but expect a range of meat and fish choices, as well as pizzas, pastas, paellas and tapas. Options might include the salmon cote d’azzure with prawns and white wine sauce, the Rigatoni Godfather with barbecued chicken and creamy tomato sauce, and the Pizza Rio with a kick of chilli. A range of vegetarian and vegan options are also available.

See & Do

Known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’, Dunoon is tucked away in the picturesque setting of the Cowal Peninsula. The town has two fine bays, some lovely gardens, a nice long promenade for a relaxing stroll, plus a Victorian Pier with wonderful panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde.

Cowal has some of the best walking and cycling routes in Scotland and, from the Castle House Museum to the Younger Botanic Garden, offers lots of gorgeous attractions in the immediate area.
