Book restaurants during the Edinburgh Festival

Edinburgh Festival Restaurants

As visitors from around the world flock to Scotland’s capital for the Edinburgh Festival, restaurants in the city are gearing up for their arrival. As any Edinburgh native knows, the city is completely transformed during the month of August, with heaving crowds on every street watching performers on what seems like every street corner.

It is the busiest time of the year for restaurants in the city but experience has taught them how to feed the crowds. It is also the restaurants’ opportunity to shine, to show off their best dishes to famous faces, tourists and locals alike. After all, one of the main attractions of visiting a new place is to discover its best dining spots.

Edinburgh is widely considered to be one of the top culinary cities in the world. Anyone indulging in Edinburgh Festival dining has a wealth of options to choose from, from luxury hotels to authentic ethnic eateries to casual student cafes.

Edinburgh Festival Dining

Scotland’s capital is a wonderful city all year round but something particularly special happens during the Edinburgh Festival. Restaurants become the centrepiece; the place to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere and dissect the shows you saw during the day while making your plans for tomorrow. At 5pm we want you to make the most of it – while getting great value for money.

    Lovely steak

Steaks cooked as ordered it was quiet the night that we dined, staff friendly and attentive. If I had to say one neg it would be the peppercorn sauce was a very small portion but overall we enjoyed our meal.

    Reliably good

This is a favourite restaurant when visiting the Usher Hall. Usually busy so booking advised. I love the ham hock terrine and the complimentary bread rolls and olive oil dip are delicious.

Good bar. Food was OK, could have been better

Dined here at the weekend in a group. Most of us were generally happy with our meals. The starters were tasty although Chicken Satay was served with hardly any sauce, I suppose we could have asked for more but we made do with what was given. Main meals were OK, Thai red curry and the pork were good. One friend ordered the fish but was advised the sauce was spicy so opted to have it on the side. It wasn't spicy in the end and the portion of sauce was very small again so her dish ended up being dry and left unfinished as a result. Not a bad place to go, friendly staff and cool surroundings but just wish they weren't so stingy with the sauces!

The meal was very tasty and the lamb dish was very tender and the staff were very pleasant and attentive

The overall experience was very good, good meal, nice wine and very pleasant staff. The only thing is we had to remind them to take the 15% off with the deal, as we felt a bit awkward asking them for a second bill. But would definitely go back.
