Enchanting Getaway at 5* Lord Bute Hotel, Dorset with Breakfast & Gourmet Delights!

Back to where we once belonged!! We’ve been coming to the Lord Bute for 17 years. We always loved Chris and Simon but the food did start to suffer around 2013 and in 2018 we had our last meal there. We then heard of the change and went with probably more apprehensive than we needed. From starters to desserts it was just phenomenal. We spoke to the waiter who was friendly and knowledgeable, and just loved the restaurant and are so pleased “The Bute is back”. To be able to eat that level of food within a mile of our is perfect! We are so happy!! Well done!!!

A nice suprise Whata find this place is. Sevice first class. Loved the resturant food really good. Sunday lunch spot on . Will definitely return With friends next time. Will try the fish next time looked good. My partner has a sweet tooth and was more than satisfied

Last minute booking Lovely double room, easy to get to, continental breakfast included but paid extra for the full English. Didn’t use the restaurant or bar. Easy access to beach via Highcliffe Castle nearly a 100 steps. There are easier walks down to the beach if preferred.

When we arrived at 5.45 pm there was no one on reception, so we had to call a telephone number on the reception door. The chef then turned up and showed us to our room. The room was nicely furnished but it was small and felt somewhat crowded with furniture. There was no soap in the bathroom soap dispenser and a big cobweb on the door frame. We did not have dinner there, however we did go down for breakfast the next day. If felt llke we were the only ones in the hotel and when we asked about vegetarian options the chef said that he wished he had known as he would have taken some sausages out of the freezer, as it was we had porridge and scrambled egg. The chef was the only member of staff that we saw during our stay. He was really friendly and helpful though, however the experience felt a bit of a one man show which is not what we had been expecting. I realise that January is a quiet month, however I had hoped the Lord Bute would have been a bit more special as we had had a very busy Christmas and just wanted to relax in a bit of luxury to recoup. So whilst the stay was not bad, it did not live up to our expectations and I cannot see us going back I am afraid.
