Riding the current

The Big Deal offers a choice of white water rafting options, to suit your available time and thirst for thrills.

Option one is for one person to have a half day white water rafting session on the Tay.

Option two is for one person to have a full day white water adventure on the Tay with the choice of two activities selected from rafting, river bugging or canyon scrambling.

You will receive a full safety briefing and all the training you’ll need for your experience.

All equipment is provided including wet suits, buoyancy aid, helmet, Neoprene boots and splash jacket.

Rafts can hold up to 10 participants.

The Silv’ry Tay

The half day white water rafting experience, lasting around 3 hours, tackles the course of the river from Aberfeldy to Grandtully. After a gentle start, the challenge picks up as you encounter the zoom flume and the ‘washing machine’ before the rapids on the final part of the course. It’s an action-packed introduction to some of the river’s most exhilarating challenges.

The full day option offers a choice of thrills. In addition to white water rafting you might like to try river bugging, taking to the Tay in one-person rafts that offer an exhilarating ride, or canyon scrambling, an adventurous activity combining swimming and climbing.

River levels fluctuate dramatically over the season, with high water usually from September to April providing faster flow, bigger waves and challenging rafting. Lower flows during the summer months make for a gentler introduction, but require teamwork and more precise manoeuvring.
