Located at Symington, near Biggar, Tinto House has retained the grandeur and charm of the past while also embracing the comforts and conveniences of the modern age.

Stunning architectural details, such as the majestic sweeping staircase with ornate stained-glass windows, and remarkable period pieces, like the penny farthing bicycle and grandfather clock, sit comfortably beside the numerous touches of tasteful modernisation.

Relaxing break

Available seven days per week, the Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a two night stay in a standard or double room at Tinto House.

The offer includes a full Scottish breakfast each day plus a £15 per person allowance towards dinner from the a la carte menu each evening.

A cream scone and tea or coffee on arrival and bottle of wine in your room on check-in will help set a welcoming tone for your stay.

All rooms are en suite and many enjoy views across the beautiful Clyde Countryside.

They are all fully equipped with free WiFi, Freeview television, tea and coffee facilities and the option of room service.

Local sourcing

The dining room offers relaxed and intimate dining in a spectacular setting overlooking the countryside of the Scottish Borders. As much as possible, all food is sourced locally.

The menu changes regularly but typical choices might be the fresh haddock fillet, which is served crumbed or battered with chips, peas and tartare sauce or the confit duck legs with beetroot fondant, buttered kale, beetroot and juniper jus.

The area around the hotel has much to offer the visitor. Local attractions include The Kelpies statues; Kailzie Gardens and Dawyck Botanic Garden.

Alternatively, you could play a round at Biggar Golf Club and try to beat the course record which is held by 99’ Open Champion Paul Lawrie.

Nothing was too much trouble for them and any request made was dealt with immediately and always with a genuine smile.
