What’s with the weather?
Sunshine, blue skies, no need to wear a second layer of thermals. Is it really March in Scotland?
Fingers crossed that this is the start of a long period of glorious sunshine and today’s Big Deal with the Galley of Lorne Inn is the ideal way to make the most of it.
2 night getaway break
This springtime-loving Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a two night stay in a standard twin or double room at the Galley of Lorne Inn, Ardfern. There will be a supplement of £10 per room per night for Friday or Saturday stays.
A full Scottish breakfast will be served on both mornings and guests will be greeted on their arrival with a Prosecco in their room. A light lunch will be served to guests on the second day of their stay.
While it is not included as part of the Big Deal, guests have the option to pre-book the three course table d’hote dinner at £22.50 per person per night.
Nestled on the loch side in the picturesque village of Ardfern, the Galley of Lorne started out as a 17th century drovers’ inn.
These days, it is one of the top-rated inns in Argyll with six comfortable and tastefully decorated bedrooms; welcoming bars with roaring log fires and a highly rated restaurant with panoramic views along Loch Craignish and out to Jura and Scarba.
Double glazing, LCD TV, Freeview channels; clock radio with iPod docking facility and wireless internet access are all standard in the cosy rooms.
If you take dinner at the Inn then you will enjoy the best ingredients that the local land and sea can provide.
The menus change seasonally, current dishes include the Loch Craignish mussels in a Thai sauce; Firth of Lorne scallops and confit of Argyllshire lamb served with Stornoway black pudding mash.
Sip on the sundeck
A collection of 50 malts and an ever-changing selection of real ales make both of the Inn’s bars rather tempting. If the weather is fine the guests can sip a malt on the sundeck and enjoy the views.
Ideal for exploring the Hebridean islands, nearby castles or just walking along the beach, the Galley of Lorne is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway.
It certainly has plenty of fans on TripAdvisor where, at the time of writing, it has over a hundred ‘Excellent’ ratings.
