Rodeo Drive in LA? Nah. Leicester Square during a film premiere? Puhlease. Noo Yoik? Fuggedabout it.

If you want to spot the stars then forget about Hollywood. The Highlands are where it’s at, Daddio.

Take the recently refurbished Stewart Hotel up in Appin, for example. Located in its own five acre garden, the historical hotel has played host to the crew of the Harry Potter several times over the last few years.

Of course, the starry associations started long before the Rowling boom. The hotel is named after James Stewart who, you may recall, was one of the characters in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped.

We can’t guarantee film stars or characters from famous novels if you take up today’s Big Deal but we are pretty certain that you will enjoy a relaxing break in a comfortable Highland hotel, surrounded by some of the best scenery in the world.

Having just had a £500,000 face lift, The Stewart Hotel is looking pretty perky for a building which just celebrated its 150th birthday.

A 37 bedroom, three star hotel which is just eleven miles from Fort William and seven miles from Glencoe, The Stewart is ideal for enjoying all the activities and the tranquillity that the Highlands can offer.

And, after a hard day mountaineering, mountain biking, playing golf or simply touring the local castles, the hotel has all the amenities needed to make for a relaxing evening and a great night’s sleep.

The rooms are all ensuite and, except for the family rooms, have either forest views or look out over Loch Linnhe and the Morvern Peninsula. Thermostatic showers & baths; crisp, white linen; 22 inch Digital TVs with 137 channels and 15 radio stations with wires/cables/plugs for Playstation, plus free WiFi complete the picture.

The Stewart Hotel offers food in its lively bar and restaurant. Both serve traditional, locally sourced dishes. Typical starters include the Cullen skink; creamy garlic mushrooms with toasted brioche and black pudding served with a soft poached egg and parmesan crisp.

The main courses include seabass with a cream butter sauce; salmon; trout; Angus Beef; steak and ale pie; a selection of roasts and the ever popular beer-battered haddock with hand-cut chips.

If the weather is sunny then you can even dine al fresco in the beer garden or just retire there of an afternoon with a frosty beer and a good book.
