For years after his death, Elvis was supposedly spotted in an array of unlikely venues such as chips shops and even Canada.
It would have been a lot more convincing if anyone had reported seeing him at Velvet Elvis in Partick.
After all, they do serve exceptional burgers.
Try a burger fit for a king with today’s Big Deal at Velvet Elvis on Dumbarton Road.
A neighbourhood bar and grill offering casual dining and drinking, it’s an enjoyably quirky joint with a decor which mixes the fittings of an Edwardian butcher’s shop with an old school vinyl jukebox.
The menus are a combination of pub classics and well established bistro dishes – all prepared with care using local, seasonal ingredients.
Two burgers, twice the fun
Available noon to 9pm, seven days a week, this Big Deal is for two people to each have a burger with fries and all the trimmings from Velvet Elvis.
Freshly prepared and cooked to order on the char grill, the burgers are served on a toasted bun with coleslaw, salad and hand-cut chips.
Choose from any of the following four varieties: ½ pound beef burger; Cajun chicken, butterfly chicken breast, minted lamb burger or spicy bean.
Toppings such as cheese, Ayrshire bacon or salsa can all be added for £1 each.
This Big Deal writer thinks that Velvet Elvis is one hip hangout – as do lots of 5pm reviewers. With a healthy combined score of 4.25, Velvet Elvis has plenty of fans coming back for an encore.
This is what one had to say:
