It’s said that good things come in threes and the team at Perth’s New County Hotel aren’t going to argue.
At the latest Scottish Hotel Awards, their Opus One Restaurant carried off the Gold Laurel National Award for modern fine dining; General Manager Jalal Al-Ibrahimi was presented with the Hotel Manager Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Management and the hotel’s proprietors, Owen and Sarah Boyle, were presented with an Outstanding Service Gold Medal Award.

Today’s Big Deal on an overnight stay B&B at the New County Hotel, with a two course dinner in Opus One Restaurant, should make the judges’ decisions perfectly clear.
Available Sunday to Thursday, this sizzler of an offer is for two people to enjoy an overnight break in a standard double or twin room at the city centre hotel. As well as a bottle of wine in room on arrival, you will enjoy a two course dinner in the award-winning Opus One Restaurant. In the morning, a full Scottish breakfast will set you up for a day exploring the beautiful city of Perth or the surrounding countryside.
Run by the Boyle family, the New County Hotel is an elegant, modern hotel in the heart of Perth. As well as a warm welcome, guests can look forward to free WiFi throughout the hotel and flat screen TVs in all the stylish ensuite bedrooms.
Head Chef Rory Lovie loves working with fresh, local produce which he regularly uses in his inventive, seasonal dishes. Your two course dinner will be served in the stylish Opus One Restaurant which, along with two AA Rosettes, has won the coveted Urban Restaurant of the Year Award at the Scottish Restaurant Awards.
The menus change regularly but typical dishes might be starters such as the confit chicken wings served with peanut, radish and micro-coriander or the broccoli velouté which comes with a blue cheese beignet and hazelnut dressing.
Popular main courses include the trio of Scottish lamb and the breast of Gressingham duck with cucumber, Scottish feta, mooli and watercress.
Desserts you might find on the menu include the rhubarb bavarois with rosewater, honeycomb and poached rhubarb or the chocolate mud cake with pineapple, rum and raisin plus vanilla ice cream.
The New County Hotel has won armfuls of awards but it also fires up the enthusiasm of those who are clever enough to stay there. This is what one happy, recent guest had to say on TripAdvisor:
‘Excellent meals and service. Just returned from a short break at the New County and would like to comment on the excellent service provided by Jalal, Clive and every one of the other hotel staff, each of whom went out of their way to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel may be rated 3 star but the meals certainly are well above that – hold on to your chef please! Overall our deal was certainly value for money and we would intend to return again next time we are in Perth.’
