Which of these is not a fib?
A) If all the pizza eaten in Glasgow in one day was laid out then it would cover the surface of Hampden Park exactly 3.75 times.
B) Spaghetti carbonara is the only known cure for the common cold.
C) Today’s Big Deal is a must for lovers of authentic Italian food.
Dunces cap and stand in the corner if you even considered B. Not sure about A, it sounds about right.
However, it’s deffo full marks if you reckoned that this Big Deal is top of the class for authentic Italian food.
Located on Stockwell Street in Glasgow city centre, Al Dente is a welcoming, family-run restaurant specialising in traditional Italian food.
Prior to the opening of Al Dente, Phyllis and Costanzo ran Il Cucciolo on the Isle of Capri and then La Piazetta in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
All of which means that Al Dente is pretty much the nearest you’ll get to authentic Italian cuisine outside of Italy.
Today’s Big Deal is for one person to enjoy garlic bread followed by either pasta or pizza from the special menu. Diners can choose between a glass (175ml) of house wine, a bottle of beer or soft drink to accompany their meal.
All the pizzas are made in the house using 100% mozzarella cheese and San Marzano Italian tomatoes. They are thin base pizza, just like they serve in Napoli.
From a simple Margherita topped with tomato and mozzarella to a spicy salami pizza, there are over ten varieties to choose from.
The choice of pasta is just as tempting. From Pennette Amatriciana with smoky bacon, tomato and onion to everyone’s favourite, Spaghetti Bolognaise, you are sure to find a pasta that tickles your taste buds.
5pm diners love Al Dente and have scored it a fab 4.1/5 at the time of writing. This is what one visitor had to say after eating at Al Dente earlier this year:
‘The food was good, the staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Would certainly recommend.’ Rating 4.2/5
