Not a lot of people know this but Ludovico Ariosto was an Italian Renaissance poet whose 16th century play I Suppositi was the original source for Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew.
Glasgow’s namesake restaurant, L’Ariosto, isn’t quite as ancient as old Ludovico but it has seen plenty of drama over the years.
The setting for countless reunions, family gatherings, first dates, engagements and even weddings, L’Ariosto is now in its fifth decade.
Like many of us of a similar age, L’Ariosto needs a little TLC every now and then. The Glasgow landmark will be having forty winks when it close its doors on the 27th of March 2011 for a nine week refurbishment.
It will re-open in early June 2011 and continue its famous dinner dances as well as serving fantastic Italian food with flair and passion to the people of Glasgow.
To celebrate L’Ariosto’s forty years of service, the restaurant is giving customers the chance to say farewell in style with a fantastic offer.
To start the evening, you will enjoy a welcoming glass of Prosecco served with fresh strawberries and then on to a lovely three course ‘Last Dance Dinner Menu’ menu designed by head chef Simon Watt.
Your meal will be served with a bottle of wine per couple.
To finish the meal, coffees will be served with your choice of liqueur. Finally, dance the night away with our house band, Limited Edition.
If you want to say a temporary goodbye to L’Ariosto then today’s Big Deal is £59.90 per couple; a saving of 53% on the standard £128.
