There’s nothing run of the mill about today’s Big Deal on a relaxing overnight stay in Pitlochry’s Old Mill Inn.
A family-run business, the Old Mill Inn was created from a neat conversion of the town’s 18th century corn mill.
The mill lade which once powered the grinding stones still runs past the Inn and turns the water wheel at the front of the building.
While the Old Mill Inn has retained its historic charm, it has all the modern conveniences that you would expect of four star accommodation.
Designed with comfort, space and style in mind, all of the ensuite bedrooms feature flat screen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and WiFi.
Although located in the centre of town, the Old Mill Inn is relatively secluded and offers private parking.
With today’s Big Deal, two people can enjoy an overnight stay in a standard double or twin room at the Old Mill Inn and soak up its friendly atmosphere. Upgrades to Deluxe rooms are available for £15 per night.
A full Scottish breakfast for both guests is included in this offer but the Old Mill Inn is also a popular spot for lunch and dinner with locals and non-residents.
Fresh, local produce is at the heart of the menu; particularly in dishes such as the warm crayfish salad with tarragon mayonnaise and slow-cooked apples, the pan seared Scottish salmon with potato fondant, puy lentils & chive beurre blanc, the home-made Scottish beef burger or the char-grilled Steaks from award-winning Perthshire Butcher Simon Howie.
See and do
The Old Mill Inn gets buzzy with live music every weekend and an open mic session on Thursdays.
The surrounding Perthshire and Highlands countryside has plenty to offer as well from castle distilleries and golf to fishing, white water rafting and, for the bravehearts, bungee jumping at Killiecrankie.
On a less adrenalin-pumping note, the hugely popular Enchanted Forest spectacle returns to the nearby Faskally Wood in October and this Winter, Pitlochry Festival Theatre will be hosting a Christmassy treat – a musical adaptation of ‘White Christmas’.
Pitlochry is just an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and under two hours from Glasgow. It attracts lots of visitors who have left glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. Here are a couple of recent ones:
‘Stayed here last night to celebrate one of the girls’ 50th. Great hotel in the middle of town. Very friendly staff, lovely food served at both dinner and breakfast and very nice rooms. Would definitely come back here. Thank you to all the staff.’
‘Excellent, central place to stay…Hotel is in great central position, but off of the main drag. Rooms were clean, well appointed, breakfast excellent and the bar is lively enough, with some live music and a good vibe to it. Would definitely stay here again.’
