Chateaubriand steak for two
Beef will be carved at the table
Sauce, greens, mash and fat chips included
Large glass of wine per person
Despite Les Bleus thrashing us regularly at rugby, the Auld Alliance between Scotland and France is alive and kicking.
You can celebrate the tie between the two countries with today’s Big Deal at the Merrylee Road Bar & Kitchen restaurant in Cathcart.
The deal is for a Chateaubriand steak to share between two people. Said to have first been served to the Vicomte Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, a big chum to both Napoleon and Louis XVIII, the Chateaubriand is one of the most tender cuts of beef and the meat served at Merrylee comes from cattle raised in Scotland.
Carved at table
The deal is for two people to share a Chateaubriand steak which will be carved at your table.
It will be accompanied by a red wine pan gravy, greens and mash or fat chips. A large glass of house wine each is included in the deal.
The Merrylee Road Bar & Kitchen use succulent MacDuff beef, supplied by Q Guild-certified butcher Tom Rodgers.
All MacDuff cattle are born and bred in Scotland and finished on natural products. This natural diet ensures the full, rich flavour of beef as it used to taste before the introduction of intensive farming techniques.
The Merrylee Road Bar & Kitchen is popular with 5pm users. At the time of writing, it scores a very respectable 4.1/5 from reviewers who have booked a table through 5pm and eaten there.
This is what a couple of recent diners had to say:
‘Excellent food! Six of us dined here, ordered different dishes and all agreed that the food was excellent.’
‘Great value, great service. Thanks for a great night. After getting engaged the dinner at Merrylee Road bar made my day.’
