Asking to choose between whisky and chocolate is like asking which thumb you prefer.
Body swerve tricky decisions and enjoy a tutored tasting of four malt whiskies and four gourmet chocolates with today’s Big Deal Tour at the independently owned Tullibardine Distillery in Blackford, Perthshire.
Nestling at the foot of the Ochil Hills in scenic Perthshire, Tullibardine Distillery is just 45 minutes from Glasgow or Edinburgh.
In production seven days a week and operated without modern computer technology, Tullibardine is a traditional working distillery and the perfect venue for whisky fans to gain a real idea of the fascinating distilling process.
The tour begins with milling the barley and continues through to making the new spirit. From there, your guide will lead you to the warehouse where the spirit is aged in specially selected oak casks.
Then on to the Tasting Room where you will be expertly guided through the intricacies of whisky nosing before tasting four of Tullibardine’s single malt whiskies.
Accompanying the whiskies will be four gourmet truffles handmade by Iain Burnett The Highland Chocolatier, award-winning, specialist confectioner.
The malt whiskies and the four different truffles have been specially selected to showcase the ways in which Tullibardine single malts can complement and contrast the various flavours found in fine chocolates.
The tour including the tasting takes approximately 90 minutes.
Your whisky and chocolate experience doesn’t end when the tasting finishes. Each guest will take home a gift bag containing a 5cl bottle of Tullibardine Aged Oak whisky and a matched chocolate truffle so that you can relive the experience back home.
This Big Deal would make a great day out for a whisky lover but, if you have a dram fan friend or family member, then it would also make a much appreciated gift. ‘Slainte!’
