Apart from the sunshine and beautiful people, it sometimes seems as though Glasgow and Havana in Cuba have little in common.
In fact, the two cities have been twinned since 2002.
Launching on Saturday 31 October and running until Sunday 8 November, the debut Havana Glasgow Film Festival aims to bring some Caribbean culture to Glasgow with a series of film and documentary premieres, talks and parties taking place across the city.
Grab yourself a slice of that Latin passion with today’s Big Deal from Boteco do Brasil and Mango – two Glasgow restaurants dedicated to giving diners a taste of the Caribbean.
As it happens, Glasgow’s Boteco do Brasil has a little brother – Boteco do Brasil in Edinburgh. Option one vouchers can be used in the Boteco do Brasil in either city.
As well as dishing up delicious South American food and drink, all three venues attract a party crowd who like to bust a few slinky salsa moves.
Get your cha cha cha on with today’s Big Deal at Mango on Sauchiehall Street or Boteco do Brasil on Glasgow’s Trongate and Lothian Street in Edinburgh.
Both option one and option two are available from noon to 6.30pm (last orders) seven days a week.
Option one is for two people to have a main course, dessert and Mojito cocktail at Boteco do Brasil in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Option two is the same as option but is for Mango in Glasgow.
Traditional South American dishes
At Boteco, popular dishes include the Brazilian classic feijoada – a traditional feast dish, it is made with black beans, pork ribs, smoked bacon, salt beef and smoked sausage, all served with rice, chilli salad, flavoured cassava flour and slices of orange.
At Mango, the menu includes tasty dishes from all over South America including the trad Colombian frijolada, made with pinto beans and beef strips, served with rice, fried platano and avocado.
As we mentioned, each diner will also be given a refreshing Mojito – the perfect way to get the party started.
Customers have been quick to show their appreciation on the 5pm page of Glasgow’s Boteco do Brasil:
