What does a vampire never order at a restaurant? Corn on the cob. Tricky business, you see. What with the fangs and all. Like trying to eat the stuff with a couple of toothpicks stuck in your gums.
Oh, come on. You didn’t think we would stoop so low as to do the old ‘stake sandwich’ pay-off did you?
Sheesh, have some faith.
Alright, the nation’s ribs may not be aching with uncontrollable guffaws but you will want to get your laughing gear around today’s Big Deal at Tempus Restaurant in Glasgow’s rather swish Grand Central Hotel.
Back in the day, The Grand Central played host to everyone from Laurel and Hardie to Cary Grant via Fred Astaire and JFK. It re-opened last year after a £20 million revamp and it is retaking its place among the city’s top tier hotels.
The Tempus Restaurant looks the part. Murals of steam trains and Glasgow’s industrial heritage link it with the next door train station while the stripped floors and vibrant purple banquettes give it a contemporary edge.
The deal is for two, juicy, six ounce, char grilled fillet steaks cooked just the way you like ‘em. They are served with hand-cut Rooster chips, confit vine tomatoes, mushrooms and a bottle of house red or white wine to share.
Since opening last September, Tempus has won plenty of fans and, so far, it has been rated a healthy 4.2/5 by 5pm users. The following reviews were left by 5pm customers who have eaten at Tempus:
‘The food is very good and does change. I had a great ham hough terrine with a well seasoned salad to start and then the steak, served perfectly as I had ordered, rare! The latter came with a pepper sauce, fries and baby roasted tomatoes leaving me too full for a dessert.’ Rating 4.8/5
