As we all recall from geography classes, the Drake Passage is the notoriously stormy body of water between the tip of southern South America and the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica.

By contrast, its namesake, The Drake is a friendly restaurant and bar on the tip of Glasgow’s West End.

Available from Sunday to Thursday, 5pm-9pm, this offer is for two people to have two courses from the 5pm menu at The Drake.

There are three starters to choose from including smoked mackerel and dill pate, horseradish sourdough and a pickled cucumber salad or slow roasted pork belly, black pudding puree, pea shoot and apple salad.

From the mains, the 6oz steak burger and haddock cooked in Samuel Smiths Ale batter are always winners. For those who like it spicy, the Goan style curry is worth a look.

If you have more of a sweet tooth, you can pick from some classics including seasonal fruit crumble or sticky toffee pudding.

It’s located on Lynedoch Street on the edge of Glasgow’s West End and city centre so is ideally placed for the city’s main transport links.
