The roar of the engines; the squeal of rubber on road and the heady scent of excitement in the air – it can only mean one of two things.
Either Gran has pimped her mobility scooter again or the Scottish Championship Car Racing season is about to get underway at Knockhill. Fortunately, it’s the latter.
Buckle up for today’s Big Deal and you can enjoy all the thrills of a day’s fast and furious racing at Knockhill Racing Circuit near Dunfermline in Fife.
Scottish Championship Car Racing
We’re revved up about today’s Big Deal on tickets to see the Scottish Championship Car Racing at Knockhill on Sunday 7th April.
Option one is for two adult tickets while option two is for a family ticket which will admit two adults and two concession visitors.
Note that children up to eleven years of age get free entry while 12-16 year olds count as concessions.
Plenty of action
Sunday 7th April is the opening round of the season and competitors will be looking to start their 2013 campaigns in stunning style.
The racing will start around 11am and it promises to be a day of wheel to wheel, bumper to bumper action from start to finish.
A superb range of racing classes, a super-slick racing format and around eighteen races will keep visitors on the edge of their seats.
Action will come from the super competitive single seater Scottish Formula Fords; American styled Legends; the zippy Celtic Speed Mini Cooper racers and modified Sports and Saloons. There will also be a trip down yesteryear with the Classic Sports & Saloon Championships.
New for 2013 is the BMW Compact Cup. These mini-Touring Car type saloons will feature drivers who are aspiring BTCC champions of the future.
The action will continue all the way to late afternoon. With trackside car parking and great viewing from all around the circuit, you will be able to follow every daring overtaking manoeuvre.
Family day out
Other attractions include an open paddock so you can get up close to the race cars and drivers and a kids’ play area.
With lunchtime track rides and go-karting available between 2.30pm and 3.30pm (both subject to a charge and availability), it all adds up to a great day out for all the family and motor sport enthusiasts alike.
Knockhill’s many fans are not slow to share their experiences. Short and to the point, this recent review summed up how Knockhill Racing Circuit can provide a fun day out for the family:
‘Really great day out for all the family, especially if you love motorsport. Watch out for the hot hatch days!’
