Khublai Khan's Mongolian BBQ

In the 13th century, the legendary Mongol warrior Khublai Khan had an empire that stretched from the Sea of Japan right across to Central Europe.

Decorated with scenes of the Mongol hordes sweeping across the steppes, Khublai Khan’s offers a fun dining experience – especially if you have ever fancied dressing up like an old school warlord.

The food is just as colourful. Khublai Khan’s is famous for its range of exotic meats, as well as more familiar ingredients, and a meal here is never run of the mill.

Available seven days a week, today’s big Deal is for one or two people to have a three course Mongolian meal – starter, dessert and one visit to barbecue plus a shot of Mongolian vodka and coffee to finish.

Exotic ingredients

Starters at Khublai Khans run from familiar dishes like the fresh, veggie soup of the day or the chargrilled chicken skewers, to more exotic choices such as the kangaroo haggis.

For a main course, diners are invited to visit the barbecue where they can create their own unique stir-fry dish based on ancient Mongol warrior traditions.

Options include a selection of rice or noodles, fresh vegetables and exotic meats. The choice of meats varies but a typical range might include zebra, kangaroo, alpaca, seafood and beef.

After the addition of aromatic herbs, oils and spices, each dish is then cooked to perfection on a giant ‘upturned shield’ hotplate, and returned to the diner at the table.

To finish, each diner may choose a dessert. Popular choices include the salted caramel and chocolate cheesecake; the Baileys chocolate mousse and the Malteser ice cream.
