16th century tower house

Now privately owned, Mercure Peebles Barony Castle Hotel was originally a 16th century tower house built by the Murrays of Blackbarony.

Sitting pretty in 25 acres of lush gardens, the grand exterior still looks like a fairytale castle but the Barony has been considerably altered since then. Not least in the introduction of all the modern comforts which you would expect to find in a 21st century hotel.

There is free WiFi in all of the hotel’s 78 ensuite rooms along with satellite TV and a hot drinks tray.

Thermal Spa

‘Excellent. Stayed overnight on Sunday at Barony Castle… Our stay was perfect. The upgraded room was amazing with a four poster bed… The gardens were lovely to sit and relax in the sun. Bar food really nice. Dinner in restaurant in evening was so tasty and well-presented. Wine choice good too. Breakfast was great in the morning with plenty of choice. The leisure facilities were of a high standard with swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. All in all the hotel was so enjoyable and I would not hesitate to return or recommend it.’
