Tucked away off a beguiling courtyard in the atmospheric Old Town, Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin is a warm, welcoming space with restored fireplaces and lots of wine merchant memorabilia.
Today’s Big Deal is for two people to each enjoy three courses from the prix fixe menu and a bottle of wine to share along with tea and coffee to finish.
Hotel du Vin’s Bistro offers classic British food with a twist of French cuisine and the menu changes every day depending on the produce available.
Starters on the menu may include terrine de champagne served with mixed pickles and sour dough bread or deep fried snails served with poached egg and frisée salad.
Mains include duck leg served with puy lentils and ratatouille as well as chickpea tart served with a crispy hen’s egg, while the dessert menu offers salivating treats such as profiteroles served with chocolate sauce and the French classic Creme Brûlée.
The meal will be accompanied by a bottle of house wine from the restaurant’s outstanding wine cellar.

Lunch or dinner
The three course meal can be enjoyed either at lunch or dinner time from 12pm until 2.30pm Monday to Saturday or 5.30pm until 7pm Sunday to Friday.
The deal can be used as an opportunity to enjoy a indulging liquid lunch or special dinner before a night in the capital.
