Well known for the warmth of its welcome, Chandlers is a spacious, detached property with unsurpassed views over the Clyde to the Ayrshire coast and beyond.

Each of the nine gorgeous and independently decorated bedrooms have well appointed en-suite bathrooms stocked with a selection of quality toiletries, cotton wool, tissues, shaving mirror and good selection of soft towels.

The house itself has a cosy snug area with comfy sofas and a bar.

A grand piano is the focus of the music lounge, accompanied by several guitars, amps, music stands and more comfy seating. The living room has ample seating, a flat screen TV, a selection of games, a small library and sound bar for iPods.

Fresh & local

Guests are welcome to dine in the hotel’s elegant restaurant. Fresh local produce is to the fore on the regularly changing menus.

A popular starter might be the Chandlers seafood platter: smoked salmon, smoked trout and prawns with a herby cucumber salad, all coated in a tangy Marie rose dressing.

Your main course might be the lemon sole roulade or the trio of lamb: Bute lamb cutlets grilled and served with a fresh cherry, rosemary and red wine glaze.

The outdoor terrace is available for sipping drinks before dinner, chatting over coffee after dinner or simply enjoying the magnificent views and listening to the waves break on the shore below.

The restaurant is closed on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.

See & do on Bute

From rounds of golf to gentle cycling trips on almost deserted roads, the Isle of Bute offers plenty of fun activities. Horse riding is a popular past time on the island as are water sports, diving and, of course, making the most of the isle’s many coastal walks. The West Island Way Walk starts in a wee village close by and is just one of the breathtaking walks available on the island. 

A popular destination for fishing, the inland lochs are popular with anglers for coarse and game fishing. Loch Fad offers anglers an opportunity to fish for rainbow trout and is only three mile from the house. Anyone with an interest in sea angling will be spoilt for choice. 

Mount Stuart House

Within walking distance of the hotel, Mount Stuart House is a Gothic Revival country house and the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute.

Along with beautiful gardens to explore, the house is open to the public and has become a popular location for wealthy celebrity weddings including Stella McCartney and JB Gill from the band JLS.
